Weezy and Free-zy - Step Back

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Despite the obvious similarities to the “Cannon” track that inaugurated Weezy into the class of elite emcees, “Step Back” pares down the rapper appearances to just the core of the former song. Freeway, still owner of the most unique flow since 2000, is the perfect grisly complement to Weezy’s light fare. The two twist words well in a mixtape sizzler, only lacking for a back-and-forth between them. This is perverse poetry at its best.

Kanye West “A Million and One Questions”

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

This is from the Beyond a Reasonable Doubt album that Dame and Biggs are promoting on Block Savvy. A while back Dame wanted to pay tribute to his then inseparable buddy by having several artists on the label remake some of Hov’s tunes from his various albums. The project was called Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. According to Dame,a-million-and-one-questions.mp3 Jay said he didn’t like it because the best record was by Jim Jones, so it was scrapped.

Boot Camp Freestyle…It’s a Rap

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Ruck, Rock, Buckshot are going ape during this live freestyle session. This makes me have faith in rap again. Free downloads in the next post (word to Jay Electronica).

Live freestyles? Vicious MCs? Isn’t post-millenial rap supposed to be about production and dances?

Think again.

“No I don’t lean wit’ it, rock wit’ it” -Rock

“Tree-coppin’ Beef and Broccoli Timbs Hacksaw Jim Duggan I’m thuggin muggin’ your friends” - Sean P. aka Ruck
